Blue Lions: La Petite Ecole’s Competition Team

This school year, La Petite Ecole in Singapore launched an exciting new initiative: the Blue Lions, our official competition team.

Created to represent LPE in tournaments and inter-school events, the Blue Lions bring together students who are ready to take their passion—whether in sport, strategy games, or other disciplines—beyond training sessions and into real competition settings.

While our first international events this year happened to take place within the PROZAP (AEFE) circuit, the Blue Lions concept is broader: it is designed to remain open to any competition linked to our Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs).

From ECAs to competitions: a natural pathway

Our ECAs provide students with regular, structured practice, helping them build skills, confidence, and enjoyment over time. The Blue Lions extend that journey by offering motivated students a pathway to represent their school in a team context, with preparation, responsibility, and a strong sense of belonging.

This is not about “winning at all costs”. It is about learning to:

  • train with purpose
  • cooperate and support teammates
  • handle pressure and emotions
  • show respect and sportsmanship
  • grow through challenge

A proud first chapter: football in Vientiane (January 2026)

In January, our Blue Lions football team travelled to Vientiane, Laos for their first major tournament experience. Beyond the matches themselves, the trip was a powerful learning opportunity.

Throughout the event, our students showed the qualities that define the Blue Lions spirit:

  • determination and discipline
  • unity and encouragement
  • focus and respect
  • resilience when faced with stronger opponents

It was a meaningful milestone for LPE: our students represented their school with pride, and returned with stronger bonds, greater confidence, and a clearer sense of what teamwork truly means.

Next challenge: chess in Tokyo (May 2026)

In May, our Blue Lions chess team will travel to Tokyo, Japan for an international chess competition (CM1–CM2 category). Alongside the tournament, students will also have the opportunity to connect with other schools.

Chess is a wonderful example of how competitions can support children’s development far beyond a single result. It strengthens:

  • concentration and strategic thinking
  • problem-solving and planning ahead
  • patience, perseverance, and emotional regulation

Our students have already been building confidence through local events and friendly tournaments, an excellent preparation for the Tokyo experience.

A community project

Launching a competition team is also a collective effort. This year, families have already supported the project through initiatives such as bake sales to help reduce travel costs.

Thank you for your energy and commitment!

Go Blue Lions! 💙🦁
